The chemical effect of triacontanol, one of the ingredients in Triplantanol is well documented in the literature. Large leaf growth occurs with cell expansion. We have also noticed many plants respond by producing thicker leaves. This response may be due to the three dimensional expansion of leaf cells or possibly increased cell numbers. The exact cellular mechanism is yet to be determined.
It is well known that thicker leaves can contribute to better resistance to sucking insects and fungal infections. Indeed there are a number of other chemical products in the market place specifically designed to achieve this.
